Thirty-Six Poems That Rhyme & Five That Don’t is my first book. I wanted my book to be different. Doesn’t every author want that? One difference is that 95% of my poetry is rhyming poetry. I rarely write free verse. The other difference is the illustrations. You see, I pictured my book to be like an old nursery rhyme book with the rhyme on one page and an illustration on the facing page. But don’t misunderstand, it is not for children. It is more like the Poets and Painters Exhibition the local art center hosts. The person who peered into my head when reading my poems was Ruthie Gipe. Her artwork is colorful, vibrant, and spot-on.
